The essential oil is not produced by distillation, as the high temperature would damage its components, but by solvent extraction and vacuum distillation. The end result is the so-called absolute oil, which is much more concentrated, more fragrant and denser than other essential oils, so much less of it is needed.

Its effect is calming, relaxing, dispels gloom and fear, relieves stress, anxiety and restlessness, thus also good against insomnia, and also strengthens self-confidence. Its mysteriously sweet scent has a pheromone-like effect, which is why it is also known as an aphrodisiac and desire-inducing.
